NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical to ISO 17604 : 2015 ‘Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Carcass sampling for microbiological analysis’ issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Slaughter House and Meat Industry Sectional Committee and approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

This Standard was originally published in year 2012 and was an identical adoption of ISO 17604 : 2003 ‘Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Carcass sampling for microbiological analysis’ under dual numbering. This revision has been undertaken to harmonize it with the latest version of ISO 17604 published in 2015.
