NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 25577 : 2013 ‘Information and documentation - MarcXchange’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Documentation and Information Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2012 as adoption of ISO 25577 : 2008. The revision of this standard has become necessary as the corresponding International Standard ISO 25577 has been revised in 2013.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

"Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as Indian Standard."
