NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Second Revision) which is identical with IEC 60034-1 : 2017 ‘Rotating electrical machines - Part 1: Rating and performance’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Rotating Machinery Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 2007 as IS/IEC 60034 (Part 1) with technical assistance derived from IEC 60034-1 : 2004. The first revision took place in 2016, which was identical with IEC 60034-1 : 2010 and published as IS 15999 (Part 1) : 2016. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60034-1 : 2017.
