NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 14687-1 : 1999 ‘Hydrogen fuel - Product specification - Part 1: All applications except proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells for road vehicles’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Industrial Gases Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

Technical corrigendum 1 published in 2001 and Technical corrigendum 2 published in 2008 to the above International Standard have been given at the end of this publication. However, in view of Technical corrigendum 2, the ISO 14687 has been splitted into parts. Accordingly ISO 14687 : 1999 has been changed into ISO 14687-1 : 1999 and title of the standard has also been changed according to the technical corrigendum 2. Therefore, ISO 14687 : 1999 shall be treated as ISO 14687-1 : 1999.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
