NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian standard is identical with ISO 16649-2 : 2001 ‘Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Horizontal method for the enumeration of ß-glucuronidase-positive Escherichia coli - Part 2: Colony-count technique at 44 °C using 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl ß-D-glucuronide’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Microbiology Sectional Committee and approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

This Indian Standard is published in three parts which are identical adoptions of their corresponding ISO standards. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 Colony-count technique at 44 degrees C using membranes and 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl beta-D-glucuronide

Part 3 Detection and most probable number technique using 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl ß-Dglucuronide
