NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 21527-1 : 2008 ‘Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs - Horizontal method for the enumeration of yeasts and moulds - Part 1: Colony count technique in products with water activity greater than 0,95’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Food Hygiene, Safety Management and Other Systems Sectional Committee and approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

This standard is published in two parts. Other part in this series is:

Part 2 Colony count technique in products with water activity less than or equal to 0.95

This standard supersedes IS 14920 : 2001 ‘Meat and meat products - Enumeration of yeasts and moulds - Colony count technique’, which is identical with ISO 13681 : 1995. After publication of this standard IS 14920 : 2001 shall be treated as withdrawn.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma(,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
