NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 6) which is identical with IEC 61869-6 : 2016 ‘Instrument transformers — Part 6: Additional general requirements for low-power instrument transformers’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Instrument Transformers Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard is one of the IS 16227 series of standards. This part is a product family standard and covers only additional general requirements for low-power instrument transformers (LPIT) used for a.c. applications having rated frequencies from 15 Hz to 100 Hz covering MV, HV and EHV or used for d.c. applications. This product standard is based on IS 16227 (Part 1) : 2016 in addition to the relevant product specific standard.

This part of the series does not cover the specification for the digital output format of instrument transformers.

This standard is to be read in conjunction with, and is based on, IS 16227 (Part 1) : 2016 ‘Instrument transformers: Part 1 General Requirements’, however, the user is encouraged to use its most recent edition.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
