NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 14785 : 2024 'Tourism and related services - Tourist information services - Requirements and recommendations' issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of Travel, Tourism, and Hospitality Related Services Sectional Committee and approval of the Service Sector Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2015 and was identical adoption of ISO 14785 : 2014. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 14785.

The main changes in this revision of this standard are as follows:

a) The document has been updated to include requirements and recommendations for online tourist information services;

b) New services which have emerged from the development of digital technologies have been added; and

c) The annexes have been restructured, completed and become normative.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
