NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4) which is identical with ISO 15930-4 : 2003 ‘Graphic technology - Prepress digital data exchange using PDF - Part 4: Complete exchange of CMYK and spot colour printing data using PDF 1.4 (PDF/X-1a)’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the ‘Publication and Graphic Technology Sectional Committee’ and approval of the ‘Management and Systems Division Council’.

This Indian Standard is published in several parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 Complete exchange using CMYK data (PDF/X-1 and PDF/X-1a)

Part 3 Complete exchange suitable for colour-managed workflows (PDF/X-3)

Part 6 Complete exchange of printing data suitable for colour-managed workflows using PDF 1.4 (PDF/X-3)

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions, are however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
