NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 61496-2 : 2020 ‘Safety of machinery - Electro-sensitive protective equipment - Part 2: Particular requirements for equipment using active opto-electronic protective devices (AOPDs)’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Safety of Machinery- Electrotechnical Aspects Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2017 identical to IEC 61496-2 : 2013. This revision has been undertaken to align this standard with the latest international practices.
