NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 2790 : 2020 'Belt drives - V-belts for the automotive industry and corresponding pulleys - Dimensions' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Conveyor Belts Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This Indian standard was first published in 2017. This revision has been brought out to align the standard with ISO 2790 : 2020.

This standard specifies the requirements for belts and pulleys for V-belt drives used for driving auxiliaries of internal combustion engines for the automotive industry.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) The cogged type has been added throughout the document;

b) The symmetry of the groove has been changed from (90 ± 2)° to (90 ± 0.5)° in Table 4, as in ISO 9981; and

c) The designation of belt has been added.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
