IS 16575 : 2025/ISO 9867 : 2022 Textiles - Evaluation of the Wrinkle Recovery of Fabrics - Appearance Method
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 9867 : 2022 'Textiles - Evaluation of the wrinkle recovery of fabrics - Appearance method' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Physical Methods of Test Sectional Committee and approval of the Textiles Division Council.
This standard was first published in 2016. This revision has been brought out to align it with the latest version of ISO 9867. The major changes in this revision are as follows:
a) Clause 3, Terms and definitions, has been added and subsequent clauses have been renumbered;
b) Requirements for 'Wrinkle tester' has been added in 5.1 (former 4.1);
c) Figure 1 has been improved;
d) A 'timer' has been added in the list of apparatus in 5 (former 4);
e) The requirements of atmospheres for preconditioning, conditioning and testing have been revised;
f) Addition of 'If the rating appears between two ratings, intermediate rating can be used in increments of a half for a rating (for example, No. 3,5).' in 9.4 (former 8.4);
g) The description of wrinkle rating has been added in Table 1;
h) The annex on the 'Summary of an international interlaboratory study on wrinkle recovery of fabrics' has been deleted and the former Annex B has been relabelled as Annex A.
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
