IS 16614 : Part 1 : 2018 Double-Capped LED Linear Lamps Part 1 Safety Specification

ICS 29.140.99

ETD 23

Reaffirmed 2024

1. SCOPE

This standard specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements together with the test methods and conditions required to show compliance of double-capped LED retrofit and conversion lamps with G5 and G13 caps, for use in fittings for LED linear lamps and also intended for replacing fluorescent lamps with the same caps, having:

a) a rated power up to 30 W;

b) a rated voltage of up to 250 V ac; and

c) nominal lengths from 300 mm to 1 500 mm.

The existing luminaires, into which the double-capped LED retrofit lamps are fitted, can be operated with electromagnetic or electronic control gear.

The requirements of this standard relate to type and acceptance testing. Recommendations for whole product testing or batch testing are given in Annex A.

NOTE - Where in this standard the term -lamp(s)- is used, it is understood to stand for “double-capped Linear Tubular LED lamp(s)”.

The requirements in this standard are given for general lighting service (excluding for example explosive atmospheres).

Performance requirements of the lamps covered in this standard will be covered in a separate standard.

For lamps for other applications additional requirements may apply.
