NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 14861 : 2015 ‘Graphic technology — Requirements for colour soft proofing systems’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Publication and Graphic Technology Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

This Standard specifies requirements for systems that are used to produce, from digital data, images on electronic displays that are intended to simulate a characterized printing condition defined by a set of characterization data and spot colours defined by a physical reference. Recommendations are provided with regards to equipment selection, setup, operating, and environmental conditions. Appropriate test methods associated with these requirements are specified.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standardwithout deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
