IS 16901 : 2022/ISO 15093 : 2020 Jewellery and Precious Metals-Determination of High Purity Gold, Platinum and Palladium-Difference Method Using ICP-OES

NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 15093 : 2020 ‘Jewellery — Determination of high purity gold, platinum and palladium — Difference method using ICP-OES’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Precious Metals Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council. This standard was originally published in 2019. The committee has decided to revise this standard, as the corresponding ISO standard has been revised, by adopting 15093 : 2020 to bring it in line with latest international practices.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
a) change of title of standard;
b) change of scope for measuring also gold, platinum and palladium with a nominal content above 999 ‰ (parts per thousands); and
c) revision of this document in order to comply in structure with IS 16900.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standard Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear, referring to this standard, they should be as read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
