NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 60364-7-712 : 2017 ‘Low-voltage electrical installations — Part 7-712: Requirements for special installations or locations — Solar photovoltaic (PV) power supply systems’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Electrical Installations Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard applies to the electrical installation of PV systems intended to supply all or part of an installation. The requirements of this standard apply to PV installations:

a) not connected to a system for distribution of electricity to the public;

b) in parallel with a system for distribution of electricity to the public;

c) as an alternative to a system for distribution of electricity to the public; and

d) appropriate combinations of the above.

This standard does not cover the specific installation requirements for batteries or other energy storage methods.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
