1. SCOPE
This standard prescribes test method and identification requirement of dried/aqueous extract of Rubia dye (Maddar) dye and Rubia dyed textiles. The detection and identification of synthetic alizarin and natural colorant madder are conducted using kit method given in Annex A. Confirmatory tests can be carried out through Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), High Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) and High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) by chromatographic techniques as given in Annex B, C and D as well as by UV-Visible and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) spectroscopic techniques as given in Annex E and F.
