NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 6106 : 2013 ‘Abrasive products — Checking the grain size of superabrasives’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Abrasives Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.
Two Indian standards mentioned below were published taking technical assistance from ISO 6106 : 1979:
a) IS 10960 (Part 1) : 1984 Grain sizes for diamond or cubic boron nitride: Part 1 Designation and grain sizes distribution
b) IS 10960 (Part 2) : 1984 Grain sizes for diamond or cubic boron nitride: Part 2 Method of test of macro grits
This standard supersedes the two Indian Standards namely:
IS 10960 (Part 1) : 1984 Grain sizes for diamond or cubic boron nitride: Part 1 Designation and grain sizes distribution
IS 10960 (Part 2) : 1984 Grain sizes for diamond or cubic boron nitride: Part 2 Method of test of macro grits
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
