1 SCOPE

1.1 This standard covers the requirements for vertical turbine type centrifugal pumps. Typically these are Vertical Francis type turbine pumps, Vertical Mixed flow and Axial flow propeller pumps for clear cold water. Pumps used for fire-fighting are excluded from the scope of this standard and are covered in IS 12469.

1.2 Purchasers who intend to use the pumps for pumping liquids other than clear, cold water shall modify the requirements, preferably after consultation with pumps manufacturers, for conditions of intended use.
