NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 4266-1 : 2002 Petroleum and liquid petroleum products — Measurement of level and temperature in storage tanks by automatic methods — Part 1: Measurement of level in atmospheric tanks issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Weights and Measures Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This Indian standard is published in six parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 2 Measurement of level in marine vessels

Part 3 Measurement of level in pressurized storage tanks (non-refrigerated)

Part 4 Measurement of temperature in atmospheric tanks

Part 5 Measurement of temperature in marine vessels

Part 6 Measurement of temperature in pressurized storage tanks (non-refrigerated)

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviation. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in the Indian Standards. Attention is drawn especially to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker
