NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with ISO 14577-3 : 2015 ‘Metallic materials — Instrumented indentation test for hardness and materials parameters — Part 3: Calibration of reference blocks’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Mechanical Testing of Metals Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.
This Indian Standard is published in four parts. The other parts in this series are:
Part 1 Test method
Part 2 Verification and calibration of testing machines
Part 4 Test method for metallic and non-metallic coatings
The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical with those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be as read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
