NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) which is identical with ISO 14955-1 : 2017 ‘Machine tools — Environmental evaluation of machine tools — Part 1: Design methodology for energy-efficient machine tools’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Machine Tools, Machine Tool Elements and Holding Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard is published in five parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 2 Methods for measuring energy supplied to machine tools and machine tool components

Part 3 Principles for testing metal-cutting machine tools with respect to energy efficiency

Part 4 Principles for measuring metal-forming machine tools and laser processing machine tools with respect to energy efficiency

Part 5 Principals for testing wood working machine tools with respect to energy efficiency

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
