NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 12) which is identical with ISO 5667-12 : 2017 ‘Water quality - Sampling - Part 12: Guidance on sampling of bottom sediments from rivers, lakes and estuarine areas’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Water Quality Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

‘Under the general title ‘Water quality - Sampling’, this standard is being published in several other parts. This part is an adoption of ISO 5667-12 : 2017 which provides guidance on the sampling of unconsolidated sediments for the determination of their geological, physical and chemical properties, as well as the determination of biological, microbiological and chemical properties at the water and sediment interface.
