NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 17) which is identical with ISO 5667-17 : 2008 ‘Water quality - Sampling - Part 17: Guidance on sampling of bulk suspended solids’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Water Quality Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

Under the general title ‘water quality - Sampling’, this Indian Standard is being published in several other parts. This part is an adoption ISO 5667-17 : 2008 which is applicable to the sampling of suspended solids for the purpose of monitoring and investigating freshwater quality, and more particularly to flowing freshwater systems, such as rivers and streams.
