1. Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the requirements for caps intended to be worn by surgeon, operating room staff and other healthcare professional during the surgical and other invasive procedures to prevent contaminationof the operating field, patient and materials from transfer of hair, microorganisms, particulates etc. They can be single use or re-useable.

1.2 These caps are also known by other nomenclature, such as operation theater cap, surgeon cap, surgeon hood, head cover, bouffant cap, nurse cap etc.
