1 SCOPE

1.1 This standard (Part 1) covers requirements for assessment and water efficiency rating of sanitaryware, such as water closets, squatting pans, flush valves, flushing cisterns and urinals for their performance based on water efficiency, which are in addition to the requirements specified in relevant Indian Standards as applicable.

1.2 This standard is an adjunct to the concerned Indian Standards on sanitaryware, with respect to additional requirements for water efficiency.

1.3 This standard is not applicable to waterless urinals, flush cocks and integral wash basins with flushing cisterns.

The Indian Standards listed in Annex A contain provisions, which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated were valid. All standards are subject to revision, and parties to agreement based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent edition of the standards indicated in Annex A.
