This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is a modified adoption of IEC 61010-2-081 : 2019 'Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use - Part 2 - Section 81, Particular requirements for automatic and semi-automatic laboratory equipment for analysis and other purposes' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by Bureau of

Indian Standards on the recommendation of in-vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices and Biological Evaluation of Medical Devices Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard supersedes IS/IEC 61010-2-81 : 2009 Safety Requirements for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use Part 2-081 Particular Requirements for Automatic and Semiautomatic Laboratory Equipment for Analysis and Other Purposes. Upon publication of this standard IS/IEC 61010-2-081 : 2009 shall stand withdrawn.

The text of IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
