NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 18123 : 2023 'Solid biofuels - Determination of volatile matter' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Solid Mineral Fuels and Solid Biofuels Sectional Committee and approval of the Petroleum, Coal and Related Products Division Council.

This standard was first published in 2022, as adoption of ISO 18123 : 2015 'Determination of the content of volatile matter'. This revision has been brought out to align it with the latest version of ISO 18123 : 2023.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) title has been revised;

b) ISO 21945 added to 2;

c) specification that the entire procedure shall be done in duplicate;

d) EN standards replaced by ISO documents; and

e) minor editorial corrections.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should beread as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice isto use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
