1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard specifies construction, operation, safety requirements and tests for canister based domestic cookstoves with metallic bodies intended for use with methanol at normal atmospheric pressure.

1.2 This Indian Standard also specify the characteristics of methanol to be used as a fuel in the Domestic Methanol cook stoves and various safety precautions to be followed while operating the stove and storing the canister. It also highlights the permissible limits of methanol vapour during operation/non-operation of the stove and storage of the canister.

1.3 For convenience, this standard has been divided into four sections which are as follows:

a)Section 1 Construction

b)Section 2 Performance

c)Section 3 General and

d)Section 4 Safety precaution.

The standards listed in Annex A, contain theprovisions which, through their reference in thistext, constitute provisions of this standard. At the time of publication, the editions indicated werevalid. All standards are subject to revision and parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the standardsin Annex A.
