‘This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 14627 : 2012 ‘Fine ceramics (advanced ceramics, advanced technical ceramics) - Test method for fracture resistance of silicon nitride materials for rolling bearing balls at room temperature by indentation fracture (IF) method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Ceramicware Sectional Committee and approval of the Division Council’.

This Indian Standard describes a test method for the determination of fracture resistance of silicon nitride bearing balls at room temperature by the indentation fracture (IF) method. This standard is intended for use with monolithic silicon nitride ceramics for bearing balls. It does not include other ceramic materials.
