Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 6980-1 : 2022 ‘Nuclear energy - Reference betaparticle radiation - Part 1: Methods of production’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Applications Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

This standard being formulated in three parts covers the production, calibration, and use of beta-particle reference radiation fields for the calibration of dosemeters and dose-rate meters for protection purposes. This part describes the methods of production and characterization of the reference radiation. Part 2 Describes procedures for the determination of absorbed dose rate to a reference depth of tissue from beta particle reference radiation fields. Part 3 Describes procedures for the calibration of dosemeters and dose rate meters and the determination of their response as a function of beta-particle energy and angle of beta-particle incidence.
