1. Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the construction particulars and other requirements of fibre main cores for steel wire ropes using two types of fibre:

a) Natural, and

b) Man-made.

1.2 This standard is not applicable to ropes for mine hoisting purposes.

NOTE - Fibre coresmay be adversely affected by high ambient temperatures and as such when selecting fibre cores. the limitation of specific fibres in this respect should be taken into consideration.
