NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 11665-1 : 2019 ‘Measurement of radioactivity in the environment - Air : radon - 222 Part 1 : Origins of radon and its short-lived decay products and associated measurement methods’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Applications Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

Under the general title ‘Measurement of radioactivity in the environment - Air : radon - 222’ this Indian Standard is being published in several other parts. This part is an adoption ISO 11665-1 : 2019 which lay down outlines guidance for measuring radon-222 activity concentration and potential alpha energy concentration of its short - lived decay products in the air.
