NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 5836 : 1988 ‘Implants for surgery - Metal bone plates - Holes corresponding to screws with asymmetrical thread and spherical under-surface’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Orthopaedic Instruments, Implants and Accessories Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was originally published as IS 11567 (Part 1) : 1986 ‘Specification for holes and slots for metal bone plates: Part 1 Corresponding to screws with asymmetrical thread and spherical under-surfaces’ which was derived from ISO/DP 5836/1 ‘Implants for surgery - Metal bone plates - Part 1: Holes corresponding to screws with asymmetrical thread and spherical under-surfaces’, issued by International Organization for Standardization.

This standard supersedes IS 11567 (Part 1) : 1986. After publication of this standard, IS 11567 (Part 1) : 1986 shall be treated as withdrawn.
