NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 15223-1 : 2021 ‘Medical devices - Symbols to be used with information to be supplied by the manufacturer Part 1: General requirements’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Hospital Planning Sectional Committee and approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard supersedes the IS/ISO 15223 (Part 1) : 2016 which was published in 2019 as an identical adoption of ISO 15223- 1 : 2016 ‘Medical Devices - Symbols to be Used with Medical Device Labels, Labelling and Information to be supplied: Part 1 General Requirements’ as second revision of IS/ISO 15223 (Part 1) : 2007 published in 2010 as an identical adoption.
