IS 1817 : 1961 Methods of sampling non-ferrous metals for chemical analysis

1 Scope

1.1 This standard lays down the procedure for preparing samplesof non-ferrous metals and alloys, for the determination of chemicalcomposition.

1.2 The procedure laid down in this standard covers the generalprinciples of preparing samples of non-ferrous metals and is notintended to supersede or replace existing specificationrequirements for sampling of a particular material. The number ofsamples required to be tested from a lot and the number of piecesto be selected for the preparation of a sample are not consideredin this standard since these will vary with the material and willbe dealt with in appropriate material specifications.
