NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO/TS 16791 : 2020 ‘Health informatics - Requirements for international machine-readable coding of medicinal product package identifiers’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Health Informatics Sectional Committee and after approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard supersedes IS/ISO/TS 16791 : 2014 which was published in 2018 as an identical adoption of ISO/TS 16791 : 2014 ‘Health informatics - Requirements for international machinereadable coding of medicinal product package identifiers’. Upon publication of this standard, IS/ISO/TS 16791 : 2014 shall stand withdrawn.
