NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 9008 :1991 ‘Glass bottles - Verticality - Test method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, on the recommendations of the Glass, Glassware and Laboratoryware Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

This standard specifies a test method for determination of the verticality of glass bottles.

This test method determines not only the deviation of the whole body from the vertical, but also the combined effect of various deformations which may also be present, e.g. the deviation of the neck from vertical, offset finish and ovality of the finish (ring).
