New Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 1776 : 1985 ‘Glass - Resistance to attack by hydrochloric acid at 100 degrees C - Flame emission or flame atomic absorption spectrometric method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Glass, Glassware and Laboratoryware Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

This standard specifies flame emission spectrometric (FES) and flame atomic absorption spectrometric (FAAS) methods for determining the amounts of alkali metal oxides released from the surfaces of glassware when subjected to attack by an aqueous solution of hydrochloric acid at 100 oC. The amount of alkali metal oxides determined is a measure of the acid resistance of the glass.
