1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard specifies material properties and specifications that are required for the use of prefabricated vertical drains for consolidation acceleration applications, ground improvement in regions of saturated and compressible soil.

1.2 This standard is a specification aid for material purchase and shall not be used as design or construction guideline. Design and construction of vertical drains used for improving the ground is recommended to be carried out separately using IS 15284 (Part 2).
