NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical to ISO 15259 : 2023 'Air quality - Measurement of stationary source emissions - Requirements for measurement sections and sites and for the measurement objective, plan and report' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, on the recommendation of the Air Quality Sectional Committee and approved by the Chemical Division Council.

This standard outlines general guidelines that can be used to conduct emission measurements at various plant types and to satisfy various measurement goals.

The methods for taking representative samples in waste gas pipes are laid out in this document. The method for selecting the ideal sampling point is laid out in this document for automated measuring devices used for continuous monitoring of emissions. Emission measurements at diffuse and fugitive emission sources are pertinent to the planning and reporting components of this document.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

 a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

 b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker in the International Standard, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
