(Superseding IS 16476 Part 1 : 2017 & IS 16476 Part 2 : 2018)
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 9/Sec 5) which is identical to IEC TS 62257-9-5 : 2018 'Recommendations for renewable energy and hybrid systems for rural electrification - Part 9-5: Integrated systems - Laboratory evaluation of stand-alone renewable energy products for rural electrification' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Solar Photovoltaic Energy Systems Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.
This standard was initially published in two parts, namely, IS 16476 (Part 1) : 2017 'LED based solar lantern: Part 1 Specification' and IS 16476 (Part 2) : 2018 'LED based solar lantern: Part 2 Methods of test', with assistance derived from IEC TS 62257-9-5 : 2013. This revision of the standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC TS 62257-9-5 : 2018.
The text of the IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
