NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC 60050-395 : 2014 ‘International electrotechnical vocabulary - Part 395: Nuclear instrumentation: physical phenomena, basic concepts, instruments, systems, equipment and detectors’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Basic Electrotechnical Standard and Power Quality Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

This standard was first published as IS 1885 (Part 14) : 1967 ‘Electrotechnical vocabulary: Part 14 Nuclear power plants’ based on IEC 60050-26 : 1968. IEC 60050-26 was later withdrawn and IEC 60050-395 : 2014 was published to cover the requirement of electrotechnical vocabulary on nuclear power plants. This first revision has been undertaken to take into consideration the developments that have taken place subsequently and also to align with the latest version of IEC 60050-395 : 2014
