NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 24) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60050-723 : 1997 ‘International electrotechnical vocabulary (Part 723) Broadcasting sound, television, data’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems and Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 1885 (Part 24) was published in 1967 and largely followed IEC Draft Publication 50 (60), Group 60 ‘Radio communications’, issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission ( IEC ). IEC 60050 (60) ‘Radio communication’ has been replaced by IEC 60050 (723) ‘Broadcasting Sound, Television, Data’.
