This Indian Standard (Part 78) which is identical with IEC Pub50 (601)(1985) `International electrotechnical vocabulary - Chapter601 : Generation, transmission and distribution of electricity -General', issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission(IEC), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on therecommendation of the Basic Electrotechnical Standards SectionalCommittee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.

Only the English text given in the IEC publication has beenretained while adopting as Indian Standard, and as such the pagenumbers given here are not same as in IEC Publication.
