1 SCOPE

Mud balance is a very essential and versatile instrument for quick and accurate measurement of density and specific gravity of the cement slurries, drilling fluids or any type of liquid/slurry in oil and gas field operations like drilling, cementing, hydrofracturing as well as in laboratory experiment/design purpose.

Mud balance consists of a graduated beam with bubble level as an indicator and a weight slider along with the length in one side. The other side contains with sample cup of fixed volume with a lid cover. The lid of sample cup is having with a hole at the centre to escape the extra fluid in cup. A sliderweight can be moved along the beam, and a bubble indicates when the beam is level. Density is read at the point where the slider-weight sits on the beam at level.
