IS 19197 : 2025 Ultrafiltration Membrane Based Point-of-Use Drinking Water Treatment System - Specification
1 SCOPE
1.1 This standard covers ultrafiltration (UF) membrane-based point-of-use (PoU) water treatment systems designed to reduce turbidity and particulate impurities, including microbiological contaminants, in water to make it suitable for human consumption. The standard prescribes minimum requirements for materials, design, construction, and performance of these systems.
1.2 The standard covers plumbed-in and countertop (gravity) systems, designed for use with municipal tap water supply (TDS . 500 mg/l) as feed water, for ensuring microbiological water safety at the point of use.
1.3 The standard does not cover requirements for consumables, such as filters and treatment media, or filters with ceramic candles for drinking water filtration.
