This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Fourth Revision) which is identical with ISO 13934-1 : 2013 ‘Textiles - Tensile properties of fabrics - Part 1: Determination of maximum force and elongation at maximum force using the strip method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Physical Methods of Test Sectional Committee and approval of the Textile Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1961 and subsequently revised in 1968, 1985 and 2009. The fourth revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 13934–1 : 2013
