NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (Third Revision) which is modified adoption of ISO 8362-4 : 2011 ‘Injection containers and accessories - Part 4: Injection vials made of moulded glass’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Hospital Equipment and Surgical Disposable Products Sectional Committee and after approval of the Medical Equipment and Hospital Planning Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1961 and revised in 1971 to incorporate the limits of alkalinity, uniformity merger of the requirements in dimensions modifications of neck finishes, closer dimensional in respect for vaccine phials covered earlier under IS 490 : 1967 ‘Specification tolerances and for vaccine phials (first revision)’. Second revision of this standard was undertaken with a view to align its requirements with the corresponding ISO 8362-4 : 1989. The third revision has been undertaken to align it with the latest edition of ISO 8362-4 : 2011.
