1. Scope

1.1 This standard covers the requirements and methods of test for two-pin canister type gIow starters forpre-heat type fluorescent lamps of rating 4 W to 65 W, hereafter called starter.

1.2 Starters covered by this standard are intended for operation on ac only.

NOTES

1 Starters of other types, such as thermal starters, magnetic starters or glow starters with operating time limitations are notcovered by this standard.

2 Starters are generally designed to operate with a range of lamps, depending on supply voltage, single lamp or series pairoperation, maximum lamp voltage and lamp starting requirements.

The additional requirements with which glow starters for use in Class II luminaries shall comply are specifiedin Annex A.
